Born and raised on the south side of Richmond, Virginia, Jonathan Bibbs (better known as Jon Bibbs) is a singer, songwriter, producer and musician who is making quite a name for himself in the independent music world. Jon’s musical odyssey began at the tender age of two years old, when his mother enrolled him in piano classes at Virginia Commonwealth University. By age 12, Jon was being heralded as a “musical prodigy,” playing engagements with the Richmond Philharmonic Orchestra and playing all of the major stages in the Richmond metro area.

Jon enrolled at Hampton University in 1999. While at the university, Jon discovered his vocal abilities at late night recording sessions with dorm-mates and music engineering students. After a stint as a union organizing intern in Connecticut, and some political organizing in Virginia, Jon decided to delve into his musical inspirations professionally. Before long, the secret was out.... Jon could REALLY sing! Jon became a local sensation; this time in Hampton Roads.

In 2001, Jon released his first recording project “True Story”. The CD took off in the local market, and began to turn heads of musical taste makers throughout the eastern region of the U.S. His follow up project “Red: The Color of Love” (2003) proved to be a major breakthrough success for Jon, garnering him national attention and putting him in high demand throughout the east. The release of his last project, “Unbreakable” (2005) solidified his place in the underground soul music world.

Since his entry in the music industry, Jon has recorded with and performed along-side some of the music industry’s best producers, musicians and performers including: Roy Ayers, Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, Melanie Fiona, SWV, Kardi’nal Official, Conya Doss, Morris Day & the Time, Dane "Kameleon Beats" Norton, Bilal, Busta Rhymes, John Legend, Anthony David, Mike Philips, Eric Roberson, Mateo, Raheem DeVaughn, Sleepy Brown, Stick Man (of Dead Prez), Chuck Brown, Ledisi, Donnie, Jaguar Wright, Jean Grae, Melanie Fiona, Skillz, Nottz Raw and many more.

In August 08', Kyte TV took notice of the surmounting buzz around Jon's unique brand of music and approached Jon with a partnership deal. This partnership placed Jon among 5 industry heavyweights who became Kyte TV’s flagship artists. In 2009 Jon launched JB Live - a unique social networking companion for his family, friends, collaborators and fans. JB's use of the Kyte TV partnership and establishment of JB Live allows his fans and audience to follow and interact with him during his lectures, recording sessions, rehearsals, behind the scenes of his musical travels and more.

Jon is Owner/Administrator of Richmond Preparatory a private academy in Richmond, VA which provides students with a basis in Christian ethical principles with a focus on reading instruction and the arts. He is also accompanist / director of 3 choral ensembles at one of Richmond's most prominent churches, and is a sought after lecturer - particularly for his presentations on music as a creative expression, church music and musical historiography.

Even amidst his numerous responsibilities and the groundswell of popular and critical support he’s been blessed to attain over the years, Jon understands that his success comes from the Most High God and the support of his family, friends and fans. He pours himself into his art form, always striving to provide an experience of showmanship like the pioneers and greats who paved the way.
